The Poem of the Day

WHERE THE SOUL KEEPS TIME

A meditation on love that lives beneath the threshold of speech

A poen by – Al Konda · The Mythical Poet

I etched your name in places words can’t reach,

where silence keeps the truths that breath betrays—

deep in the marrow of my wanting soul,

beyond the trembling lips that dare not speak,

in rooms where dead and living drift and stay.

No pen could mark what’s burning into me,

this testimony written without sound—

a script that only breaking hearts can read,

inscribed where even daylight turns away,

where everything I’ve lost is finally found.

The body is a house of hidden doors,

and you inhabit every room and wall—

a name repeated in my very bones,

a prayer with no god listening at all,

a love that never needed to be heard.

I cannot show you what remains beneath,

this architecture built of blood and want—

but know you’re written everywhere I am:

in every cell, in every breath I take,

in everything that rises from the mud.

So let it stay—this love I cannot give,

this truth too wide for any mortal speech—

carved in the kingdom where the soul keeps time.

Enough to know you’re printed in my core.

Enough to know you’ve never been out of reach.

There are certain loves we never confess — not because they are small, but because they live too deep for breath to carry. Some names do not belong on the tongue; they belong in the marrow, carved in the quiet places where the soul builds its secret architecture.

This poem was born in that territory.

It speaks of a love that cannot be given yet cannot be removed — a presence woven through bone, blood, memory, and ache. A love that does not ask to be spoken. A love that does not bargain for return. A love that survives entirely in the places where we bury what cannot die.

There is no romance here in the ordinary sense.

No promise.

No hope dressed as future.

There is only truth.

A truth written in the rooms beneath the heart’s ruins — the rooms where longing becomes scripture, where unoffered love becomes its own form of faithfulness. The kind that is neither offered nor withdrawn. The kind that remains.

This poem is not about possession.

It is about recognition.

It is about the moment you discover that another person has shaped the very architecture of your being — that they live inside your pulse, not because you chose it, but because something ancient and wordless chose for you.

This is the love that never leaves, that refuses to be erased, that marks the soul the way time marks stone:

slowly, deeply, irrevocably.

Some truths are not meant to be heard aloud.

Some loves are not meant to be lived.

But they are meant to endure.

And so it remains — in the kingdom where the soul keeps time.

✨ LITERARY ANALYSIS — Where the Soul Keeps Time

by Al Konda

Where the Soul Keeps Time is a confession made in the language beneath speech. It functions almost as a subterranean psalm — an articulation of love that cannot be enacted, but refuses to extinguish itself.

The poem operates on three essential axes:

1. The Body as Archive of the Unspoken

The repeated imagery of bone, breath, and marrow positions the body not as metaphor but as vessel.

This isn’t symbolic longing — it is anatomical.

Love here is stored in:

  • the marrow (“where silence keeps the truths that breath betrays”)

  • the bones (“a name repeated in my very bones”)

  • the cells (“written everywhere I am — in every cell”)

The poem insists that the truth of the connection exists below language.

It refuses the premise that love must be expressed to be real.

2. The Soul’s Kingdom as a Timeless Realm

The title phrase — where the soul keeps time — reframes love as something measured differently from worldly relationships. The soul does not track chronology or reciprocity.

It tracks imprint.

Time in this poem is not linear.

It is carved.

It is stored.

It is held in the dark, where the heart’s oldest truths live intact.

The poem implies:

Some loves surpass the lifespan of circumstance.

Some loves continue even when they cannot unfold.

3. Love Without Possibility, Yet Without Erasure

This is not unrequited love.

Nor forbidden love.

Nor lost love.

It is love that exists beyond enactment.

A love:

  • not given

  • not asked for

  • not performed

  • not exchanged

Yet fully alive.

This refusal to externalize it gives the poem its gravity.

The speaker is not wounded by the impossibility — he is defined by the endurance.

The final affirmation:

“Enough to know you’ve never been out of reach.”

grounds the entire poem in a paradox:

Closeness without contact.

Possession without claim.

Love without future — but with permanence.

Al Konda

The Mythical Poet (Al Konda) is a Romanian-English poet whose work unites form and fire. He writes in rhyme and symbolism, insisting that poetry must sing, speak, structure, symbolize, strike, and bring joy—the pillars of The Konda Principle, his philosophy of the art. Across 40+ books and countless performances, Al has cultivated a living, multimedia poetry: each poem arrives with a literary analysis, an essay for readers, a song or duet, and visual art bearing his sigil.
His mythic epic The Seer – Deluxe Edition rekindles the ancient vocation of the poet as seer; A Name I Never Spoke and Flame Without Shadow explore love, devotion, and inner transformation; ongoing daily releases blend classical poetics with modern production—YouTube premieres, blog essays, and social dialogues that invite audiences to sing the poem.
Al’s stance is clear: craft is not a cage but a sanctuary; beauty is not a costume but a covenant. In an age of noise and spectacle, The Mythical Poet offers disciplined music, moral clarity, and the courage to turn sorrow into song.
