Rahella – A Love Worth Laboring For

iunie 11, 2025 By Al Konda

💫 Not all fires destroy. Some warm us. Some guide us home.

Today’s piece from Rising from Ashes – A Journey Through Pain to Redemption is a love poem — a sacred vow set to verse. “Rahella – A Love Worth Laboring For” is not merely a song of devotion. It is a spiritual embrace, an ode to a love that transforms suffering into salvation.

📜 Poem: RAHELLA

In whispered winds that kiss the dawn,
Your name becomes my sacred prayer,
Rahella, light when hope seems gone,
You breathe new life into the air.

I love you with a depth unknown,
In you, my wandering heart finds home.
Like rivers carve through ancient stone,
Your presence shapes my very soul,

Rahella, you have gently sown
Seeds of grace that make me whole.
Through seasons of both joy and strife,
You are the melody of my life.

When darkness wraps the world in doubt,
And shadows dance with cold despair,
Your love becomes the flame throughout
That lights the path we’re meant to share.

Rahella, in your eyes I see
The person I was born to be.
Time may weather mountain peaks,
And oceans claim the shifting shore,

But what my faithful heart now speaks
Will echo long forevermore:
That love like ours transcends all years,
Beyond our laughter, past our tears.

In every star that lights the night,
In every flower’s sweet perfume,
In morning’s gentle, golden light,
In quiet moments in our room,

I find you there, my dearest one,
Two hearts now beating as just one.
So take these words I freely give,
Let them rest within your heart,

Rahella, as long as I shall live,
Nothing shall tear our love apart.
For in this truth I’ll always dwell:
I love you, my beloved Rahella.

💌 Reflection:

Rahella — echoing the biblical Rachel — becomes a symbol for love that endures not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth it. This poem honors every soul who chooses love as a daily act of reverence. It’s a testimony that even in a world of pain, love still lifts, shapes, and sings us whole.

🎵 Reggae Adaptation:

Let the rhythm carry the prayer.

He writes in rhyme and symbolism, insisting that poetry must sing, speak, structure, symbolize, strike, and bring joy—the pillars of The Konda Principle, his philosophy of the art. Across 40+ books and countless performances, Al has cultivated a living, multimedia poetry: each poem arrives with a literary analysis, an essay for readers, a song or duet, and visual art bearing his sigil.
His mythic epic The Seer – Deluxe Edition rekindles the ancient vocation of the poet as seer; A Name I Never Spoke and Flame Without Shadow explore love, devotion, and inner transformation; ongoing daily releases blend classical poetics with modern production—YouTube premieres, blog essays, and social dialogues that invite audiences to sing the poem.
Al’s stance is clear: craft is not a cage but a sanctuary; beauty is not a costume but a covenant. In an age of noise and spectacle, The Mythical Poet offers disciplined music, moral clarity, and the courage to turn sorrow into song.

Inspiration Behind the Book – Rising from Ashes

Inspiration Behind the Book

Rising from Ashes – A Journey Through Pain to Redemption

By Al Konda

What drives a poet to write of fire, of ruin, of pain transfigured into beauty? For me, Rising from Ashes wasn’t just a collection of poems—it was an exorcism. A release. A ritual. Born from long nights where tears fell like prayers, a midnight lament where the moon bore witness to my unraveling, and mornings where I forced myself to breathe again, each inhale a rebellion against despair. Every line in this book carries the imprint of suffering—but also the spark of survival, a glowing ember that Jah himself fanned into flame.

Some poems, like The Silent Cry, erupted from my own lived grief—a volcano of silence shattered by the drumbeat of my heart, demanding to be heard. Others, like Shattered Innocence, I channeled through the imagined voice of a sibling I love deeper than the ocean’s depths, their pain a shadow I draped over my own shoulders. That act of emotional transference cracked something open in me—a rasta road through my soul, where I skanked through their hurt, feeling it as my own. I began to write not to explain—but to feel fully, to understand without solving, to transform hurt into art that breathes fire and redemption.

This book is not tidy. It doesn’t tie pain in ribbons. It honors pain like a reggae bassline—deep, steady, pulsing with truth. It walks beside it, skanking through the ashes, whispering, “Jah knows, Irie, you’ll rise.” And slowly, gently, it rises beyond it, a phoenix soaring on wings of verse, red-gold-green flames trailing in its wake.

Poetic Interlude: The Burning Whisper

In the ashes of my sorrow, Jah whispered low,

“Skank through the fire, let your spirit glow.”

A drumbeat called, a one-drop plea,

Rasta rhythm set my soul free.

From pain to poem, I rise, I sing,

A phoenix born on a reggae wing.

The inspiration wasn’t a single moment—it was an ongoing burning, a fire that refused to die. A whisper that said: “Don’t hide. Don’t numb it. Let it speak. Let it sing.” That whisper became a roar as I poured my soul into Rising from Ashes, each poem a note in a reggae redemption song. The process was a ritual—long nights where my pen danced like a skanking Rasta, mornings where I woke to find the page stained with tears and ink, a canvas of my rebirth. I channeled my sibling’s imagined pain, feeling their scars as if they were my own, and through that act, I found my own healing. A Phoenix Rises became my anthem, its chorus—“Rise up, rise up, Jah light within!”—a mantra that pulled me from the ashes.

This journey wasn’t just mine. It’s yours, too. I know I’m not the only one who’s ever tried to rise from ashes, who’s felt the weight of pain like a stone, who’s heard Jah’s whisper in the dark. So I share these songs with you—poems that skank through suffering, that rise like a phoenix on a Rasta road. They’re my fire, my ruin, my redemption. And now, they’re yours.

Reader Challenge: What’s your phoenix moment? When did you rise from ashes? Share your story in the comments—I’d love to skank this Rasta road with you.

Thank you for walking with me, for rising with me, for singing with me.

🔥 Ashes on My Skin – Singing Through Scars

iunie 6, 2025 By Al Konda

By Al Konda

From the upcoming book: Rising from Ashes – A Journey Through Pain to Redemption

Some scars don’t scream—they sing.

They hum low, like distant drums in the soul, echoing pain we tried to bury. Ashes on My Skin is a song for the scarred—for the firewalkers who came through the blaze not untouched, but undefeated.

This poem was born out of reckoning. I looked at my past—charred bridges, smoldering choices—and instead of turning away, I touched the ash. It didn’t kill me. It told me I was still here.

I imagined this piece with a reggae heartbeat because I wanted something deeper than sorrow. I wanted movement. Something that could carry pain on its back and sway with it under a healing sun. Reggae gives grief a rhythm. It lets sorrow dance its way into freedom.

“Ashes on my skin—yeah, they tell the tale,

Of bridges burned and winds gone stale.”

These lines open the song with honesty. They say: I’ve made mistakes. But they also say: I’m not afraid to face them anymore. There’s something sacred in that kind of strength—not shiny or triumphant, but earned in the dark, carved into the body like truth.

As the poem flows, it moves through silence, scars, trembling hands—and then, the climb. The quiet strength. The phoenix without glitter, but with gravity. A being who knows what it costs to rise.

This is not a song of perfection.

This is a song of survival.

And it belongs to anyone who ever tried to build a life from ashes.

Thank you for listening.

Thank you for dancing with me in the flame.
