🖋️ Shattered Dreams — A Confessional Liturgy in Verse
In the dim light of pain and memory, sometimes the only prayer left is a poem.
Shattered Dreams is not a performance. It is a surrender — a quiet, trembling act of laying bare what the world would rather keep hidden. Each stanza is a confession dressed in silence, each rhyme a wound that refuses to close. There is no salvation in these lines, only the courage to name what still hurts.
This poem was born in the ache of nights too heavy to carry, in the flicker of a bar’s neon glow where truth feels closer than God. I wrote it for the moments when the heart feels like a bruise that never fades, when the choices we’ve made claw at us in the dark.
It’s the voice of someone who’s stopped pretending — who’s tired of the grin, the “I’m fine,” the lies we tell to keep the world at bay. A flicker on the wall. A soul drinking its own shadow. A heart that, despite everything, still whispers:
“I start again, and let light in.”
What does it mean to write when the ink feels like blood? To confess not for redemption, but for the sake of being seen?
Shattered Dreams doesn’t answer these questions — it lives them. Each quatrain is a step through the wreckage of dreams that didn’t survive. Yet it’s not a dirge. It’s a liturgy, a sacred ritual for those who keep going even when hope is a stranger.
The poet raises a glass, not in cheer, but in defiance — a toast to the stubborn, battered heart that still dares to want more.
In a world where much of modern verse is clever but hollow, where words are strung together for applause rather than truth, Shattered Dreams is a rebellion. It reminds us of poetry’s first calling: to hold the broken things without fixing them, to call them sacred not because they’re whole, but because they’re real.
This is not a poem of hope, but of something fiercer:
The will to rise when it doesn’t matter,
To write when no one’s listening,
To love what’s been shattered.
I think of the bar in the poem as a kind of church — a dim, quiet sanctuary where the only hymns are the clink of glass and the hum of silence. I’ve been that poet, tracing bruises in the half-light, chasing the sting of truth because it’s all that’s left.
Maybe you’ve been there too. Maybe you’ve carried a dream so heavy it broke you — yet you woke up and started again. This poem is for you. For the part of you that’s still sincere, that still believes in wanting more, even in darkness.
So read these lines slowly. Let them sting. Let them remind you of the weight you’ve carried, the ghosts you’ve fought, the light you’ve let in.
And then ask yourself:
What’s the dream you haven’t killed yet?
What’s the truth you’re still too scared to speak?
Shattered Dreams doesn’t promise answers — but it offers a hand in the dark. A flicker. A breath. A reason to keep going.

In the dim light of this quiet bar,
I trace the bruises, near and far,
The ones that never fully fade—
Just marks from choices that I made.
I tear at words like stitched-up skin,
Each line digs deeper than the grin
I fake when someone says I’m fine—
There’s truth, but never in the line.
These verses bleed, not clean, not pure,
They stumble, stagger, try endure.
I write them down to feel control,
But ink just leaks out from my soul.
I’m just a flicker on the wall,
A breath that barely makes the call.
The silence hums, it pulls me near—
It knows the weight behind each tear.
I don’t dare speak what’s locked inside,
The fear that time has left me dried.
So I just drink, and chase the sting,
And wait for dawn to change a thing.
I’ve dragged through nights with heavy eyes,
Fought ghosts who wear my thin disguise.
And though I lose more than I win,
I start again, and let light in.
So here’s my glass, not raised in cheer,
But for the heart that’s still sincere—
For all the dreams I’ve yet to kill,
For wanting more, in darkness, still.

The Mythical Poet (Al Konda) is a Romanian-English poet whose work unites form and fire. He writes in rhyme and symbolism, insisting that poetry must sing, speak, structure, symbolize, strike, and bring joy—the pillars of The Konda Principle, his philosophy of the art. Across 40+ books and countless performances, Al has cultivated a living, multimedia poetry: each poem arrives with a literary analysis, an essay for readers, a song or duet, and visual art bearing his sigil.
His mythic epic The Seer – Deluxe Edition rekindles the ancient vocation of the poet as seer; A Name I Never Spoke and Flame Without Shadow explore love, devotion, and inner transformation; ongoing daily releases blend classical poetics with modern production—YouTube premieres, blog essays, and social dialogues that invite audiences to sing the poem.
Al’s stance is clear: craft is not a cage but a sanctuary; beauty is not a costume but a covenant. In an age of noise and spectacle, The Mythical Poet offers disciplined music, moral clarity, and the courage to turn sorrow into song.
